"There is no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way it treats its children."
Taikan Africa aims to empower children as they go through the rigors of modern life. We give priority to Karate training. Being an Olympic Sport, our Academies strive to nurture and grow future champions who will, God willing, bring Glory and Honour to our Great Country Kenya. Under the watchful eye of our instructors, the children and youth who train at our various dojos, grow in stature.
We shall soon establish annual Children Leadership Camps that will incorporate Karate, Football, Chess, Reading and Essential Life Skills.
By teaching our children Karate and Aikido, Taikan Africa gives them an opportunity to engage with nature, outdoor and the wild. They get a chance to be children and to make informed choices based on God's menu. They get a chance to be responsible and authentic.
"Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them."
Karate and Aikido give children the essential ingredients of confidence and self-confidence, thus bringing the best out of them. We help children realise that the world is a place of joy and countless possibilities. They take delight in who they are and take charge of their own behaviour.
"The greatest legacy one can pass to one's children and grandchildren is not money or the material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith."
Taikan Africa will inculcate in children the characteristics of both an Eagle and a Lion. Children learn to be independent minded and thinkers capable of relying on themselves. They also imbibe the spirit of teamwork driven by courage, honour and loyalty.
"Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children."
At Taikan Africa, we teach children that pain is sweet. We remind them that when life throws lemons at them, they should grab them and turn them into sweetness. We teach them that failure is an essential part of life but we must internalize the lessons of failure. Through Karate and Aikido, we build in them stamina and resilience.
"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."
By indulging in Karate and Aikido, children learn that when they work with Nature, they become powerful creators. This realization instills in them a deep sense of worth and self-respect. With self-respect ingrained in them, they grow up respecting and valuing others.
"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
At Taikan Africa, we introduce children to the outdoor physical activities and games that their grandparents enjoyed in the wild—games that have become extinct. We talk to them and their parents on the dangers of keeping children indoors hooked to television and electronic gadgets.
"Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of men."
Since children grow up rapidly, empowering them with Karate and Aikido will give them the necessary tools needed in life. Taikan Africa knows that once children go through our training programme, they become more helpful and considerate human beings—ready to take on the world with confidence, character, and compassion.
